If you have a career and you had a baby what age would you think is apropriate to send your child to daycare/dayhome after they were born?

I have a friend that is a dayhome provider, she has 10mnth old twins and she was provinding care for a 2yr old. Mom of the 2yr old just had a baby and she was back to work when baby was 4days old, in my friends care. It is only half days now, but she is soon going to be full time, the baby is almost 5wks. Thoughts?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those  who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Oh my word, how rigid can you be? How joyless can you make being a mother than to seriously suggest that if we are pumping breast milk into bottles we are "damaging the child" (said in a Darth Vader voice). Forget formula, which would be grounds for removing children from the home (and giving them to a wet nurse, I guess).

This is what always strikes me about MSAH's and MWOH: they suck all the joy out of being parents by insisting that there is One True Way to raise a child and that they alone have found it. Lighten up. Your kid's jaw will develop just fine if you put breastmilk into a bottle and let your someone else touch the baby once in a while. It will be good for you and for your child.

You know what? So what? It worked. I didn't have to pop in twice a day to feel comfy - I had to pop in twice a day to bf my baby. It's all about choices honey, and I made the BEST choice for my family. You don't have to agree with my choices, but since you don't have enough information to base an opinion, you'd be wise to not form one. Are you actually saying that my choice of a caregiver was not appropriate? What are you suggesting? Should you decide on the care for each child on the planet? How do you think you are in any position to determine what was best for MY child?

Early childhood education is considered, by most, to cover the years from birth to age EIGHT (or roughly third grade).

In Kansas they are changing the teacher licensure to reflect this view.
