If you have a career and you had a baby what age would you think is apropriate to send your child to daycare/dayhome after they were born?

I have a friend that is a dayhome provider, she has 10mnth old twins and she was provinding care for a 2yr old. Mom of the 2yr old just had a baby and she was back to work when baby was 4days old, in my friends care. It is only half days now, but she is soon going to be full time, the baby is almost 5wks. Thoughts?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those  who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Every so often my son's dentist wants to know how long was it that he sucked his thumb. I sigh and say "never". Then I shout "Husband come here", point to my husband and remind the dentist that THAT person, with the thousands of dollars of dental work that still haven't fixed up the mouth, is the child's father. The dentist always says "oh, yeah". I like to point out, if I'm in a good mood, that actually I was the only thumb sucker in this family. Then I smile. Even my daughter who is not nearly as bad off as Dad and Brother didn't quite get my straight teeth that fit in the mouth really well luck. I don't know whose teeth she got, but we didn't find them in the big family reunion out west on my side of the family this summer. I'm fully expecting to find them in someones face if we make it over to Europe next summer to meet more of my husband's family.

Thanks.

The lab portion (i.e., the hazardous portion) of my job is taking a three year break, starting in two weeks.

<> that is exactly it...none of the militants ever sounds joyful or happy.

"suck all the joy out" ... yeah, i think that's what happens when they post, too.

as usual, a smart and exceedingly perceptive post.

At this stage in her life, my sister (almostfree) doesn't feel guilty about a darned thing. And well she shouldn't. She's raised 3 beautiful, nice, compassionate children. I love them like they were my own children.

And the last package of birth control pills just ended last week.

It's kind of weird, and freaky. After 15 years of being on the pill - the idea of NOT is, well, scary. And weird. You know?
