"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I have driven through, but I have also stayed and visited. I know a bit about Seattle. If you knew anything about southern coastal cities such as Charleston or Savannah, or perhaps even some areas of New Orleans, you might have different ideas about what is normal for the United States.

Same here. I fill up a few jugs at the start of bad storms too. But my next door neighbor has city water so I don't worry too much. The good news is that in twelve years, I've never had to resort to using lake water to flush a toilet!

You didn't just mention her, you said you feel sorry for her. That was a personal attack.

You know, very few places are more controlling about the color palette of homes than historical districts, like Colonial Williamsburg. Yellow is an approved color on their color palette. If it was good enough for the Founding Fathers, it's good enough for me :)

Apparently yellow is a "Gateway Color", leading to things like pink flamingos, wishing wells and plastic deer running down the yard gnomes.
