Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.
I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

So wait... I'm asking why tax relief is not considered a subsidy, when it obviously is, and your rebuttal is agreeing with me? Okaaaaayyy.
As for this:
>> Assessing homes based on purchase price is fiscally stupid policy.<<
I don't think so at all. I'll wait for your explanation as to why though. FTR, the property tax based on purchase price does not apply to commercial property. I didn't say property taxes didn't go up. Only that they don't base them on actual value of the home.
They are both a subsidy - I never disgreed (pp did, i guess), one's unsound fiscal policy, though.
Oh my god PLEASE don't move into my neighborhood. I can't imagine being so judgemental. And we do have some pretty strict CC&R's in our neighborhood. But I think a yellow door would be just fine.
BTW, I lived in Bermuda for years. It was very *very* common to have yellow trim, shutters and SHOCK -- doors.
Your comment reminds me of an old Smith's song...."its gruesome that someone so handsome should care....."
If things are right in the world with people, and they are comfortable in their own skin, they just don't concern themselves with cr-p like this.
What was the Why in regards to?
Well apparently yellow is a slippery slope. First yellow doors, then pink houses, then purple hair, then tatoos, then body piercing, next wife swapping;)
Personally I'd question the "mind set" of someone who would give a rats arse about what color my door is or isnt. Really who the heck cares?
Now I'd question the "mind set" of someone who painted their child yellow.....but a door?

That's a pretty comical statement coming from someone who considers Cupertino to be a dump and butt ugly.
