Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I have been very vocal on this board that the reason why Dylan went to daycare wasn't just because I work but so I could get away from him. He is a highly social child who has an introvert for a mother. Dylan, if left alone, is very prone to take something apart to see how it works and then see how many other things can be made from the parts. He does make life interesting but I wish that he would play alone more often. Even when he is playing by himself, he wants to do it in the same room as the rest of the family. And then proceeds to narrate what he is doing. Dylan is his own color commentator.

Well, if you ever want solitary bathroom time, don't get cats once Dylan grows up. The only alone bathroom time I get now is on the Amtrak train to work and well...ewwww... LOL

Oh, I dunno. A friend of mine lives inside the Beltway and belongs to an organic farm coop. She gets her stuff close to home and it's cheaper than any of the grocery stores around.

I think the only reason I go to Safeway anymore is for their Orange Spice tea--it's their stupid house brand and I haven't found anything by anyone else that I like as well, so every month or so, I head to Safeway and buy it. But otherwise, they aren't worth the effort of stopping by.

The dogs were never a problem. Nor were the girls. It's only Dylan.

Wouldn't work for Dylan. I've announced that I'm going to the bathroom and I'll talk with him when I come out. Does he wait for me? Noooooooooo. Even if he doesn't follow me to the bathroom, he just keeps on talking to (at me would be more accurate) me from the other end of the house as if I'd never left the room.

Oh, yeah, the cat glaring at me from the toilet while I'm taking a bath because he was on the edge of the tub and fell in. Or staring at me because I shooed him out of the sink so I could wash my face. And then had the nerve to get it wet so he couldn't finish his nap in the sink. BTDT. But, still, I prefer cats over dogs any day.

<> Homeschoolers in general do way more than fine. My oldest dd was homeschooled until highschool age. She is in public school now and is doing so well. She just got an academic letter earlier last week for maintaining higher than a 3.5 for a year. My other kids are still homeschooling and thriving educationally.:-)
