"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

Because the goods and services the taxes pay for cost more each year.

61% comes from "state funds", which is mostly sales and income taxes.

6% comes from local misc. revenues, like interest income or donations.

11% comes from the federal gov't.

Almost 2% comes from lottery.

Only 20% comes from local property taxes.

That doesn't happen. (Barring unusual circumstances, like, mercury is discovered in the water supply and noone wants to live there anymore.) If it does, the assessed value is lowered. The reason prop 13 works is because property values plain do not go down here. (In the long run.)

You said it nicer than I did... my short answer was "they had the one resrouce that mattered: the willingness to spend an entire day with my child..."

Yes. We. Did.

I agree with you on one thing... maybe she can't imagine eating vegetarian that often, but I can't imagine eating meat that often. It's just not necessary. Or necessarily healthy.

That's great to hear. We live near a small university and they recently developed a program for highschoolers to get their diploma in two years then an Associate's in another two years (so by the time their counterparts graduate high school they ahave a degree already). Currently there are less than 200 students (the school is new and they recruited based on getting the best students to apply), a large percentage of them are homeschooled kids. Also a friend was telling me that her homeschool group has been contacted by college recruiters a few times over the past few years, and an article in US News was saying the same thing back a year ago.

LOL, beats me; my eyes glaze over at discussions involving that much work in food gathering. I am the grocery store chain's dream consumer :)

No, that's why tax revenues need to increase. It doesn't explain why the tax revenues need to increase at the old rates. It's arbitrary. She's saying that the revenue CA *could* have had if they hadn't passed prop 13 needs to be made up.

Again, for the third (fourth?) time, what field are you allegedly in?
