"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.
I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I think all 3 and 4 year olds have some degree of that.
Gee how open minded. My arguments dont count because I live in a different part of the country from your own tiny corner? And our grocery prices really arent much different than the ones I see in California-in this day and age there just isnt much as far as inflated prices.
Not to mention, if you really discard Alaska as being *frozen tundra* you might want to expand your horizons a bit. You arent one of those who assumes people up here live in igloos and drive dog teams, are you?
The great thing, imo, about this board is learning that what might be the *norm* in one part of the country is vastly different in another. I think to say an argument doesnt count because its coming from a different perspective is rather narrow.

I just don't think dcps do it better than most parents generally.
And if forced into the horrible world of sahmdom ~ or the closing down of the daycare center (the horror!), I'm sure the wohms here would eventually rise to the occasion.
When you talk about your DS1 I think he sounds like he was like
Hey, you go girl!
I think if voters had been given another option back in '78, they might have chosen something different.
OH give me a F"IN Break -- we're being HONEST here -- I"m telling you I HATTTTEEEEDDDD my child's toddler years there were times I didn't even like HER - -to come back with your smug "oh horrors you would have risen to the occasion" diminishes what I'm trying to tell you about how godd*MN *(YES Mods..I'm SWEARING under those asteriks) necessary that daycare was to my sanity and Liza's survival....
to be honest and lay that out takes a lot of courage....
Yes. We. Did.
