"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I'd rather WOH and not worry so much about the cost of food.

"Gee how open minded. My arguments dont count because I live in a different part of the country from your own tiny corner? And our grocery prices really arent much different than the ones I see in California-in this day and age there just isnt much as far as inflated prices."

They don't count when those of us are arguing about local produce vs. shiped in produce, prices of produce, etc. Due to the fact that you don't have an option when it comes to local vs. shipped in.

"Not to mention, if you really discard Alaska as being *frozen tundra* you might want to expand your horizons a bit. You arent one of those who assumes people up here live in igloos and drive dog teams, are you?"

I've been to Alaska, thank you very much!

"The great thing, imo, about this board is learning that what might be the *norm* in one part of the country is vastly different in another. I think to say an argument doesnt count because its coming from a different perspective is rather narrow."

See my above statement, but just so you know I know quite a bit about various views around the country as well as outside. I STILL think it would be doable to shop cheaply ANYWHERE. One board I frequent that talks about this has a space just for International people and their store/coupon setups can be very interesting. YOU are the one who said you can't do it, my statement was along the lines of talking about veggies, when they are grown and buying local. YOU YOURSELF said that you can't get them, then so be it. I don't know why you were arguing with ME over Farmer's Market and local produce then because YOUR experience would be outside that realm for 9 months of the year.

I am still trying to grasp how a family of four (although you only refer to one DD-so I am not so sure about that) can eat for $60 per week.

No, I didn't hire an attorney to represent me rather than the transaction.

You think dcps should do as much or more than parents?

Yep, it sounds like we got the same model.

I was really happy DS1 stuck with it.

I am arguing the point that your experience is not universal. I also never said it wasnt possible to shop cheaply where I live-I do pretty well. I have better things to do with my time, however, than trek around from store to store (waste of gas, imo), spend $ on co-ops, or time on excessive freezing and canning.

We *do* have farmers markets and such, just not in January. And I am not interested in eating things that have been frozen for more than a couple months, max. I never said we didnt have local produce as an option, its just not the *same* option. And we dont get 9 months of winter, either, LOL.

If you've been to Alaska, why make such a disparaging remark about it being *frozen tundra*?

Maybe they get you in the permit process? We are building a rather simple and small (1400 square foot) house on our property, and all the permits are costing us almost $20,000!

Just as I'm sure you'd be able to raise your 3 cherubs while rising to the occasion if you had to WOH FT, right?
