"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I agree, mkatherine, though there is a point where it is not safe (piles of garbage, cars on blocks, etc). I don't know the best way to deal with it......but telling people what color they can paint their front door sure isn't a safety issue.

like I said there's a big gray area between a health or safety hazard and a difference in taste.

say you have a neighbor that is selling and the potential seller will not buy because of this neighbor who is too lazy to clip shrubs or take down holiday lights? i'm sure you would care then!

Why would Katie mind? Wouldn't the neighbor who is selling mind? And why would the "potential seller" be trying to buy in the first place? Shouldn't the potential seller be, you know, selling?

when you have a chance that some bonehead is going to paint their door orange or some ghastly color, they should have the right.

<i think that that is how it should be. only just a few years ago kids were being raised with morals and manors and todayit just seems the world is a mess. they must have been doing something right when wife stayed home to take care of her family.>

that poster would mind because she would want the buyer to pay as much as the market demands. why would she want someone to sell for less, it would have a domino effect on her property. would you like it if your neighbors sold their houses for 100,000 thousand in today's market?
