"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

Ummm, no ...

100,000 thousand is equal to 100,000,000 - or one hundred million

Uh, not so much, no. "100,000 thousand" is one thousand times more than $100,000.

She did but the spots didn't appear until she was back in daycare on Mondya - I picked her up and her wonderful teacher said "um...mom?

My agenda is spelled LEVITY. Check it out!

I guess that we should bring the subject back to the subject at hand.

Will any of you admit that you stay at home to not have to work (which is to me nonsensical because mothers at home work harder than anyone, IMHO), or are you like me (working outside the home to get a break from the kids and to pay someone to clean your house?).

And far less likely to break off into an ocean.

The post I responded to was a bit insulting (well you get what you pay for) and something else. Don't remember. What you have posted since has been more neutral. Another posted already pointed it out to you.

I would EAGERLY accepy an offer from anyone bidding 100,000 thousand on my house, as long as they didn't include a contingency that the bank has to approve the loan amount :)

You are making the assumption that random-height shrubbery scares away potential buyers. In my neighborhood...it doesn't. People buy here (as they no doubt buy in mkatherine's neighborhood) because they drove through and liked the vibe and feel of the neighborhood and various other amenities (schools etc.). Not everybody wants cookie cutter uniformity or declines to buy a house because it isn't exactly like the neighbors. It will drive down the price of a house if it is clear that neglect means expensive repairs must be made ("fixer-upper" the real estate agents call it), but lack of uniformity isn't a negative around here. And frankly, I wouldn't want to live anywhere near a neighbor who was irritated by non-regulation shrubs.

Vicky, where I live, the cost of a condo versus a cottage with two acres are worlds apart. So you get what you pay for. There is no value judgement

and again there's a lot of ground to cover between "mr. and mrs. posh" and the adams family with a bazillion kids --
