"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

BWAHHAHAA. Nope. Yellow doors don't lead to anything (except the interior of the house). Drive through an old neighborhood some day. Make it an old WEALTHY neighborhood for effect. You will see all manner of doors and home designs and shrubbery heights. Not everybody values uniformity. Some people think it makes a neighborhood look bland and choose to spend their housing dollars in a place where there ISN'T uniformity.

Me too, mkatherine, me too! I was rather poor as a child, and we had a BLAST (oh we had fun with NOTHING) while all the other kids with money sat around looking miserable and tired from all their "lessons".

You bet! And local governments generally have regulations to keep actual hazards in check. HOAs that mimic town government in their particulars seem benign to me. But HOAs that aim for something like Stepford house dystopian uniformity are a whole 'nother beast.

Did it ever occur to you that Mr. and Mrs. Posh sometimes LIKE individuality in homes? Because it lets them spread their own wings. Wealthy people can be quite eccentric in their tastes. Of course, they can spring for an expensive Moroccan imported antique door to show their individuality. But they won't be put off by bright yellow.

Well that makes sense, they probably just appeared that morning after you took her. marissa's didn't appear until the end of the illness either. By that time the dr. said it's on it's way out, nothing to do for that virus, it'll go away in a few days.

that's really all they are....politically run organizations that spend their time voting on the prettiest lawn of the month, measuring shrubs and citing homeowners for painting their siding the wrong color.

That sounds rather cool. That's an apartment I'd like to live in.
