"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I know plenty of people who have had some pretty bad flooding there. It may not be a major natural disaster, but like fires, it's something that is guaranteed to happen again, if you live somewhere that is in the 100 yr flood zone.

"my son just started talking today and if i had been at work i would have missed it!!! not worth it to me.""

There will be days when you will wish you had not only missed it but that he had never started -- belive me -- my often uttered phrase to my nonstop chatterbox 8 year old is "I can't believe I WAITED for your first word...what was I thinking?"

Yes. We. Did.

Parts of New Hampshire where I live devastated by "100 year" floods in 2005
and again in 2006
and again in 2007

really -- we're done with the 100 year floods now -

Yes. We. Did.

I think just about anywhere is prone to natural disasters of some sort. The green eyed monster that makes people insult those in Malibu who have lost their homes rather than praying for them is pretty sad. And San Diego, and anywhere else. Must be pretty nice, being absolutely positive that weather or something like that will never touch you.

Maybe, it is like the butterfly effect.

Like I said, I care more about property rights than an orange door. Or yellow, or whatever. Although I could possible concede that the "Butterfly Effect" on property rights might be pretty scary.
