"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

Darn. My hopes and dreams have been dashed.

Well considering a majority of the population lives on the East Coast and in CA (I think), that would be a fair assumption.

Seems a bit ironic that someone from WV would go off insulting another state for no apparent reason. Hope it makes ya feel better.

We were joking. I'm sorry you find it so hard to believe that there are people that have no desire to live in CA.

That comment makes no sense at all.

I don't, not at all. Actually, I was just saying I thought it was rude that someone thought it was funny that people in in S CA had their houses burning down, and that was what I was commenting on. I guess I just don't think natural disasters and people losing their homes is funny, even if some of the people happen to be rich. I was actually wondering why you all of a sudden decided to tell me you hope my house falls into the ocean. Care to point out where I am surprised people don't want to live here, or where I said that anyone else lives somewhere bad? Maybe you are confusing me with someone else. In fact, I didn't even say that I think CA is better, I only said that I live where there are no earthquakes or fires.

Yes. It is a tragedy and I don't think that it's funny that people's houses are burning. I didn't make any remarks about this. You were commenting on my post to Moon.pie.Zappa (if you follow the thread back, you'll see that she was responding to a post I made to Katie that I agreed with her that I'd rather live on the moon than in CA).

I certainly don't hope your house falls into the ocean. I was thinking more like CA would become an island :) . . . but in all honesty I was trying to keep up the joking tone of the subthread.

I don't see how I insulted CA or the people that live there.
