"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

I did make the wrong assumption that you lived with a HOA. What they say about assumptions and all that...So then I ask, why not? I always wondered what sort of person would actually WANT to live with so many rules (rather than grit their teeth and bear it because of the community pool etc.). You do seem like a person who would be comfortable living a rule-dense HOA-governed neighborhood. I shouldn't have assumed you already do.

But at least at that age they can tell you what's wrong, and you can give them medicine for it. I expect it when their older. But it's really hard when their 3 months old, and it's your first baby, and you can't fix it or make them feel better.

you will learn that you can't fix it when they are older either.

Because anyone who paints their door yellow is obviously unstable.

Yup. I make lots of assumptions (my assumption that yogabba lives with a HOA is my most recent wrong one). But the assumption that somebody would have to be literally crazy not to have the same taste as me is not one of them.

Yes, this is one of the reasons we choose to live in the city instead of the suburbs.

<<again it's not only a yellow door. >>

Yes, right, it's also green, purple...so what?

No -- actually, I don't. I do question the mindset of someone who thinks a yellow door is a sign of certain drug use.

I'd say the grocery store is the worst place to pick up germs.

My front door is deep red. Doesn't match the rest of the house at all. I love it. The neighbors must think I'm keeeeerazy...which is probably why we all get along so well!

I know a senior medical director with a red front door.
