"I just don't want to work"

Hi all... I'm new to the board and I am curious.

I am in my mid twenties, unmarried, no children. I work in an extremely competitive field with many other women my age. Many of us are making six figures and the job is very stressful. We all have a great work ethic, but sometimes when the stress gets really bad, I'll often hear the girls (never the guys) saying things like "Arrgghh... I'm so sick of work. I just want to marry a rich man, have kids, stay home and NOT WORK."....... I was raised by two working parents (two very loving, caring hardworking parents). My mother was very successful in her career, and I feel that when I get married, I will (like my mom) continue to work and raise children at the same time (my mom was definitely "super mom" ---she did it all and was great!)...... My main question: many of the women in my work stay in the position for about 5-7 years and then leave.....the funny thing is...

There is no door color that would make me do that. Not even polka dots or stripes. Because I don't judge people's mental stability on their decorating taste. If somebody has a truly offbeat taste (polka dot door), I just think they are artsy. And I don't equate artsy with insane.

I wouldn't say it's the best . . . but I will say I thought we had discussed EVERYTHING possible, but door color--that I don't remember coming up here! lol!

I say "hi". Because it's not really all that uncommon. Have you really never, in 6 cities, encountered any artsy people? How is that possible? Or did you encounter artsy people but misconstrue them as mentally unstable?

Um, no. This is your own personal quirk not generally shared. And I have been touting the virtues of everybody having their own taste and their own quirks. But I do draw the line at anyone trying to say that their own taste and their own quirks are the only sane ones there are.
