If you had to choose...

between being a full-time WOHM and a full-time SAHM (and both were feasible for you), which would you prefer, and why?
Given my job and my personality, I would prefer WOH. I don't find my job difficult or stressful. I very much enjoy it and feel energized by it. At the same time, I am lousy about domestic chores, so I would like to have the extra income for someone to help out with that. I'm also lousy at making my own routines and paying enough attention to DS, so although I love being around him, I don't have the energy to be a SAHM, and I feel that DS would actually have a better and more fun time in quality othercare.

How about you? If your choices were full-time WOHM or full-time SAHM, which would you prefer, and why?

Just so everyone knows, I'm more interested in the "why" part of the question. I've intentionally oversimplified the issue by making it an either/or choice between two options. What personality traits, desires, etc do you think would make you personally more suited to one or the other if you had to go all-or-none?

True! I don't know why I assume everyone lives right here with me. lol

Part-timers get benefits here. Part-time schedule is 25 hours or less. 25+ is full time.

ft wohm. It came more naturally to me. After 7+ years as a sahm, it still isn't natural.

With my kids young as they are now - I would choose full-time WOH.

It's funny, whenever I tell DH about SAH-WOH debates, here or elsewhere, he says the same thing: "I love my job, but I'd quit in a heartbeat if I didn't need to make money!"

Right now, as things stand today, I think WOH PT will be the ticket for me.

I wonder, would that include controlling the temperature of the water? That way if someone flushes the toilet, you wouldn't get scalded. Also, no need for a water heater, and you could boil pasta without a stove.

Now you're thinking the way I do when he asks questions like this! Could I also control blood, since it's mostly water, and cause it to clot quickly when people cut themselves? I like the pasta example, but I'm sure I'd mess that up by forgetting to cool it with my mind when the pasta was cooked and then boiling the pot dry. This is why I always tell him I don't have the wisdom to handle a power like that.

I actually kind of like the laws of physics the way they are. Except for gravity. I'd like a little less of that now that I'm 45.
