If you HAD to choose a completely different lifestyle/way of life...what would you pick as your new life? (example...if you are currently living a life on a farm and farming is your day to day life...would you choose to be an artist in a big city?

I"d be childless and working full time as an actor in some really really interesting regional theater or off broadway work -- working steadily enough to earn a good living

Yes. We. Did.

I would either be married to DH, but childless - we would likely still work in the same fields, but with the disposable income and freedom involved, there would be dramatically more travel involved. We would have a MUCH smaller house (less work) with a MUCH smaller commute.

Alternately, I would probably have my BS/RN and CRNP credentials, and we would be living in a small town that is remote/rural in nature, and I would be providing primary care to a small community while we and our kids lived in some old (but restored) farmhouse with a dog and all the things that our current faster paced lives don't acommodate.

in the best of all worlds I would have met my current dh as he and I are now, BUT we would be young enough to have children together (at 42 when I got remarried, I was/am NOT having any more children)...I would have "passed" on so many years of unhappiness and loneliness married to my ex, he would have passed on all the time spent with his whackadoodle ex....I would keep my kids because I love them to pieces.

In lieu of all that, I'd love to be able to celebrate 50 years of marriage with dh -- I just don't think we'll make it that far!

I am seriously loving this thread...little glimpses into what we might have ended the sentence..."When I grow up...."

with.

Thanks for the sharing so far...once the warm fuzzies pass I'll find something to start a little squabble over I promise ;)

It is hard to imagine my life any different. But, I guess I would still be married with kids but live in a small town somehwere with a big house, wrap-around porch. I would still be a nurse.

I don't think I would change my life too drastically if I could. Small changes here and there. Like now we live in a small home with not much yard. I would love to have a small farmette that we could have a huge garden and maybe some chickens ( my kids love eggs) and raise our own beef. That kind of stuff.

This is a good topic. To answer the question, I actually am living my other life right now.
