And your dh made enough $$ to support both of you comfortably, do you think you would be working?

My dad retired because it no longer made sense for him to work.

hello???? I did not make any statements about a person's worth or "good" based on volunteerism, so get off your high horse.

I don't know if the gates of Heaven will open up for you or not. I surely can't make that type of judgement (which I don't have the right to do) based upon one single aspect of your life.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

I love the ages my boys are now. 9 and 11... old enough to communicate well and have great conversations and relationships, and old enough to do for themselves, but no major "teen hormones" kicking in yet! LOL!

But when you mutually decided you would be a sah wife, what did each of you think that meant?

I guess you could say the dynamics change. Dh won't be going to work so then we will spend our days together. We will travel. We will do things together we do now but will have more time to do together then. It will be different although I've been a sahw for what then some 40 years.

{but if you don't and you remain sah how would you job/work as a sahw change if you retire?}

That I would be a wife that stayed home. That I would not work outside the home. We didn't go over all the logisitics. We just mutually agreed this is what we both wanted. Easy.

Obviously *you're* not familiar with Methodism...isn't EVERYTHING a Methodist concept?? LOL

Have I ever posted the "how many Methodists does it take to change a lightbulb?" joke?

How many United Methodists does it take to change a light bulb?

This statement was issued: "We choose not to make a statement either in favor of or against the need for a light bulb. However, if in your own journey you have found that a light bulb works for you, that is fine. You are invited to write a poem or compose a modern dance about your personal relationship with your light bulb (or light source, or non-dark resource), and present it next month at our annual light bulb Sunday service, in which we will explore a number of light bulb traditions, including incandescent, fluorescent, three-way, long-life, and tinted--all of which are equally valid paths to luminescence."

There's an awesome site with tons of these; the Baptist one *could* be the Methodist one as well--I was screaming laughing.....

I wanted to sew, cook, garden, try new recipes, design clothes, etc. I either wanted to do it as a sahw or do it if dh didn't want a sahw.

Both of us have our leisure. Both of us work very hard.

We knew what we both wanted & we went after it. We are living how we want life to be.

Maybe you gave it more in depth thought about the little details. We just went for the big picture.
