And your dh made enough $$ to support both of you comfortably, do you think you would be working?

Actually, that's not true.

Uh oh, what's wrong with peanut butter? Is it only the allergy thing? I hope so, because it's a major source of fat/protein in our house!

How old is he? Does he keep it in his mouth all night?

See, there are a couple of issues at work here. There's the constant sucking motion thought to cause over-bites, etc. But thumb-sucking is actually worse (since the thumb cannot be thrown away and there is slight counter-pressure). Then there is the issue of the excess saliva that the endless sucking creates and if the teeth are not cleaned properly, it's just a night-long breeding ground of bacteria.

I think it's tough on parents these days...almost like we know TOO much. I mean, just 20 years ago, baby teeth were supposed to just rot and fall out, right? Or, teeth didn't get brushed till the baby could do it him/herself.

Sometimes you want to forget science and take a break. Don't beat yourself up.

But there is also the leftover bm that pools in the mouth from the last swallow. Bottles are alot worse though, you are right. Decay-wise, it's bad. Also, babies shouldn't lie flat with bottles because it really increases the risk on ear infection (all those tubes and tunnels are connected to the throat).

Best to not allow the baby to fall asleep at the breast or with a bottle, but we all know that!

You're wrong. Both ways of falling asleep while drinking let liquid remain pooled in the mouth. Which is the source of the problem. Oh, and. Do you have kids? Breasts certainly do leak.

I though the natural next step for a woman who had decided to have children...was to take it up a notch and get busy being willing to work even harder to feed, clothe and shelter them. Not to like...as a fist instinct...decide to ditch not only her resposibility to actually support them...but to ditch whatever responsibility she used to shoulder, to support even herself...

I think she meant for you to cut and paste where she is going to keep an open mind for future debates?
