And your dh made enough $$ to support both of you comfortably, do you think you would be working?

yeah, but some physicians say those things because they feel they must. my ped would tell me certain things because it is his job, and over the years i have discovered, drs always act like they *need* to give a definitive answer, when "i dont know" would sometimes be more appreciated(not in this case of course). when i felt my ped was giving me an "extreme case" answer i took it with a grain of salt, and made my own decisions. i think a lot of new moms hang on every word of their ped. and believe me, i call mine "dr God", as he is very common sensicle?(is that a word??LOL), but he is my guide, not my law and dont think i havent said that to the kids in front of him when he tells me something the kids want him to tell me. LOL. ah, to be a new mom again.....NOT!! LOL.

PFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<>>> LOL!! that is what i was thinking. not here in today's world. not to mention, if the baby is *never* exposed to some non-threatening germs, their immunities will never get built up.

Those are what I call "desperate" studies - desperate to show that there are no ills associated with magical human breastmilk. Unfortunately - its untrue. The pooling happens regardless of source as baby sucks while falling asleep. The pooling happens because of the baby / milk source orientation during, not after, feeding. Once a baby falls asleep and relaxes the mouth muscles, the bottle orientation is usually such that nipple tips up to the mouth, rather than down - leaking just isn't the major factor. Ever watch a baby sleep - they make sucking motions even while sound asleep anyway. The breast actually provides the replenishing milk supply - the bottle will often be empty by the time the baby falls aspleep - and will stay that way. There is nothing in breatmilk that will significantly inhibit the bacteria/ose decay mechanism. Its just life. If it makes you feel better - you can go with the studies and deal with the dentist later. But I wouldn't recommend it.

And some people take a doctor's word as gospel. Of all things, juice is fine at 5 months as long as he can sit up??? But milk in the same cup is unhealthy....

That's ri-dam-diculous.

Yep. Its pretty much been proven that binky usage and braces arent linked, LOL. My ds had a binky till he was about 3 (much to dh's annoyance....) and its already starting to look like he will have my teeth-they are very straight and I never had braces or retainers. Now dd, who NEVER had a binky, has a mouthful of metal, had a retainer for 2 yrs before the braces and will prob have a retainer for another year after the braces! Her poor teeth were a mess, she inherited her birthmoms teeth!
