I saw a little bit about this this morning, and immediately thought of this board.

Eh. I suspect that if they couldn't agree, then they would just cremate the body and split the ashes, for each to do as they wish.

would you care if your family just argues over how to say goodbye and where to bury you then, too?

Good point, Puss. I will have to draw my son into my plans and pay him to deliver Granny. There's not much that child will not do if cash is involved.

I really don't care either, same as what you say. However, I do know from personal experience that having the pre-planned thing is really nice. When my mother and my brother died, it was very nice to just call the funeral home and have everything done. The only thing we had to meet about was to write an obit and meet with the Church about music and readings.

I dunno. If you're not there to force the transfer of custody, seems like it would be very easy for sister to "forget".

I am just tagging on the end.

I really don't care what my family does with my body once I'm done with it, I will have no need for it.

We had my mother cremated (at her request) and spread her ashes in the ocean. I regret it. Knowing what I know now, I would have preferred to have a burial place for her remains. That is my recomendation for my own family, but I'm not set on anyone way that it needs to be handled, they are the ones who will live with the decision, not me.
