Impact of new credit card regulations on SAHP's

I saw a little bit about this this morning, and immediately thought of this board.

That was pretty much exactly my initial reaction -- minus the go-go boots, maybe.

Judging from previous discussions here on this board in years gone by, I would say that the feature in question is probably extremely informative for some people. When people tell you they have a set amount to pay on credit cards each month, it is obvious that they are trying to pay down an old CC debt with minimum payments.
This is a stupid law that will (probably) not change the amount of money that is defaulted on cc.

The people who are really going to get screwed are young mothers (and a few fathers) who haven't had time to build up good credit prior to deciding to SAH. For those of us who already have strong credit histories and already have credit cards, it probably won't make much difference. I'm a SAHM now and probably will be for the next couple of years, so I guess I won't be getting any new credit cards!
The only positive thing I can see--and it is a very small thing--is that women who SAH and are then divorced won't have huge credit card debt to deal with once they're on their own again. But as someone else pointed out, this is horrible news for women in abusive relationships who need to flee and start over.
And I sure hope this means that a woman who SAH with the kids so
