OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

I do, I spend $100 every week. I budget $100 and I do not go over or under (because 99% of the time I will spend the entire $100).

Exactly. If I spend $100/week. My bill is $400/month.

I didn't say "always".

I guess that just really strikes me as odd. Not impossible, I suppose. Just out of my realm of experience or imaginability.

I'm going shopping tonight. Although my average is about $140, I'll probably spend well less than $50.

That seems silly to me....but then I'm not one to *need* to spend everything anyway,

I am a new mommy to be. I came here to gather information and begin my journey of trying to understand this new and exciting life I have to look forward too. As I read these posts and listen to what is being written and the responses that are being given...one thing keeps standing out in my mind.

I sure hope that while I raise my child I can remember to not be judgmental and to teach this new life I am bringing into the world that we all have struggles and that none of us are perfect ( i wonder when the last time you were humbled was).

So that maybe, just maybe, my

I shop every week though and if I do have left-over money, it would only be about $10 if that. I have 4 people to feed so $100 doesn't go too far each week but I am able to get everything we need.

I don't really see the difference. That extra $10 will get me things that I might not necessarily need that week to get us through the week but things that I might have wanted to get and haven't had the extra money or store up on things for future weeks that might have more expensive things that might be needed.

I understand what you are saying, because I shop pretty much the same way.

Our budget is $75/week.

You don't have any "odd" weeks where you really don't need much? Like the week you go on your cruise? Surely you don't buy $100 of groceries that week? Or other vacations? Or if you're going out of town for 3-4 days.

Ours will only be about 50 this week (if even that) because we're only making dinner tonight and tomorrow. Wed/Thurs we'll be at my parents for Christmas; then Friday we leave for Dallas.
