OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

I really never understood when people say they don't have the "time" to cut coupons. It takes me all of 5-10 minutes a week.
Very true. I've never used a formal budget (the sort where I said "I have X$ to spend/week on this and Y$ to spend/week on that). If you asked me how much I spent this week or any other week on groceries, I couldn't tell you. What has always worked for me is informally living within and sometimes below my means. I never actually calculated anything, I just spent less when we had big expenses and spent more when we didn't.
I am very organized, and I do like to save money...but I wouldn't say that I cut corners, lol.

It's not that I don't have the time, it's that my time is more valuable than the savings I get from cliping coupons, and/or driving around town to hit the sales.
It takes me all of 5-10 minutes a week.
With the little ones around (with interuptions and all) it would take me a half an hour or so...at least.

I don't track every expenditure, it's tedious.
I do however, allocate funds for each catagory in our budget.
