OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

I go to another store for produce, meat and coldcuts because it is MUCH cheaper than the supermarket and the quality is excellent.

They are very expensive products and healthier options are available cheaper. My rant against coupons wasn't about time clipping or locating the products but rather that it sways me into buying things I don't need or that I could get (or make) cheaper. I like biscuits. Pillsbury makes, among other things, biscuits. But I can make cheaper, healthier biscuits just by making them myself and buying the ingredients (which, incidentally, rarely have coupons but are ultimately cheaper). That's what I mean about coupons winding up making me spend MORE money, not less. They are always for things that can be bought cheaper in a different brand or made cheaper (like biscuits) oneself. So they don't actually save money.

Those coupons mean nothing to me....I don't use any of those products.

Again, it depends on your flexibility. There are many people who are not making biscuits from scratch so saying money on pillsbury biscuit's is great for them.

Never said you did. Just showing that I have a wide selection of coupons and I am sure I could get more if I didn't miss some of the Sunday papers and if I clipped everything and was more flexible with the brands I buy.

If somebody was going to buy the Pillsbury/other expensive product anyway, then yes, they will save money that they otherwise would have spent on that very same product without the coupon. What I am arguing against is the idea that clipping coupons would save money for all shoppers if only they actually bothered to do it. The only people who save money by clipping coupons are the people who were going to buy those products regardless. It's a smaller group than the stores and manufacturers want people to think. They sell the idea that EVERYBODY can save money if they use the coupons and this simply isn't true. I fell for that line for a brief while but only a brief while. And I suspect there are plenty of people who don't even realize they have been subtly manipulated into spending more money by having their choices manipulated. The illusion of "50 cents off" can be a strong illusion that blinds people to how it would have been 75 cents cheaper to buy a different brand entirely, or buy something that is not in the "convenience" category.

Don't know tostinos, but I tried those pillsbury bake-yourself things in a can. It was inedible, completely disgusting.

The thing is that of all the things on that list, the only one I would perhaps use is the 5 bucks at BB&B. There is nothing of the rest that I would ever want.
