OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

Of course it CAN be done. No one has said anything to the contrary. We've all agreed it CAN be done.

What we haven't agreed on is whether it SHOULD be done.

Except that the list of coupons you posted earlier were almost all convenience items ...

If you have the room to store the items. Or will use them before they go bad. If not, then stockpiling does not save anything.

Yes, no doubt. However, it is also unhealthy to eat a lot of these pre-fabricated foods, IMO, so that is another good reason not to get them.

Yes, there is also an epidemic of type II diabetes and obesity because people eat too much junk and too many highly processed carbs that are devoid of actual nutritional value. You sound like dh's step who used to argue that velveeta in the spray can HAD to be a wonderful food because millions of people eat it. To me that is not an argument, especially not when I am teaching a kid how to eat at the same time.

Snack food around here is and has always been fruit, raw veggies (dd particularly likes fresh, raw peas, fennel and peppers), cheese, nuts (I buy several pounds at a time) yogurt, rice pudding, bread, olives and/or olive oil. Sometimes I make a loaf of banana bread with lots of nuts and fruit or an apple crumble with oatmeal and nuts. We do occasionally have junk around, like some cookies or pudding from the store, but not very often.

But why would you eat either one in the first place?

my biggest gain in shopping with coupons comes when i stock up on things that may already be on sale on top of my coupon with kroger....and because i brown bag my kids lunches,i'm always clipping a coupon that will save on compliments like granola bars, raisins, soups or canned fruit.
