OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

I guess it all depends because as I have said before I have gotten coupons for produce at my main grocery store. It is not too often though.

Yeah any coupon that I don't have to pay to acquire and is for an item that I need to buy anyway is totally worth it. Did you mention that you get some of your coupons online? Would you mind sharing some sites with me? My aunt's Christmas Eve party has been moved to tomorrow, so I've got nothing to do this afternoon. DH is reading, DS is napping, and all this coupon talk has me in the mood to see what I can find.

People who literally want to save as much as they can will save the most money by AVOIDING coupons and buying ingredients instead of convenience foods and buying cheapest brands of non-food items. If somebody actually wants to save money, the items that have coupons for them should be avoided. I know, I know you'll say it all depends on how brand-flexible people are willing to be. If they really want to save money, the cheapest way to go is to be brand-flexible enough to stay far, far away from the expensive things that have coupons and buy the cheap things that don't. Making your own mac and cheese really is more economical than buying pre-made. You pay for the conveneience even if you pay 50 cents less with a coupon.

Yep. People need to remember that there is a REASON why there are coupons for those items - they are either unnecessary, overpriced, or both.
