OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

Man if we didn't have to eat we'd be rich. The little buggers want fed at least 3 times a day!

I didn't see any amounts for clothing, personal care items, household cleaning and other products, savings for home and car repairs and other emergencies, charitable contributions.

Personal care and cleaning items are likely lumped into the grocery budget (that's how we do it), car repairs and other emergencies probably come out of savings.

I have always used the "5th week" for furniture and vacations.

Really? I thought you bought furniture on delayed financing.....

Yes and our 5th week check has been put into a higher savings account until the "delayed financing" was due.

There was NO personal savings on that budget.

Good for them. They also don't have a budget for car insurance and car maintenance. How are they able to do this?

I am not familiar with this, so how many "5th weeks" do you get in a year?

4. I use our paychecks, minus what we need for the week (usually just food, spending money and after-care) and put that into a higher interest savings account.
