OK, remember this is a debate board, and I am going to play devil's advocate here, so please let's play nice.

Exactly, it all comes down to preference and flexibility on brands. One shampoo might be cheaper than the one on sale and with a coupon BUT if I don't like it, it would not be worth a dime (or 20 cents-lol!!) to me.

Jumping in late...and maybe you've already made your point........but I actually understand what you're trying to say.

We budget $125 a week, every week.

Thanks :)

Yes, usually we spend the entire amount and if I don't, I will buy things that maybe at another time I will not be able to put into the budget because I will need more that week.

$125 for 7 people is pretty good!!

Budgeting $100 a week and spending exactly $100 a week are two totally different things.

I buy very few name brand products.

But she said she spends the same amoutn every week. That's a completely different statement than allocating the same amoutn every week and it coming out that way on average.

Oh I agree....I just thought that she *meant* allocating the same amount every week (even though that wasn't what she said).

Yes, but it would still make for a predictable CC bill at the end of the month.

I budget $100 and do not go over the $100 because I know that is all I have to spend. I might go under after the things on my list that are needed, but 99% of the time, I will just get things that I know I will eventually need and might not be able to put into the budget another week when I have more expensive things that need to be purchased.

Not always. It just all depends on what you are buying. I used Marcal coupons for about a month (they were in the circular's each week) and have gotten free papertowels that entire month.
