Okay, well...my name is Valerie. I'm not a parent, although at times I feel like one (I have to take care of my sister). But I am a SAH of sorts. I'm disabled. Not to mention, I have social anxiety. I like to stay alone, most of the time. I do the domestic things. I have to pull my own weight. I do get my own paychecks. Of course, it's below the poverty line. But it's something. I think SAHMS deserve pay. More than I make. After all, I'm making money to stay home. But most stay-at-homes make no money for the work they do.

You don't have to apologize. I usually take things quite literally--thanks to having Asperger's Syndrome.

Oh yeah, because it works both ways. (And that there are SAHFs.)

FYI, we use sahd not sahf (f could be interpreted as female), but anyway. MKat wasn't really referring to SAHDs. She was referring to the fact that her partner is a woman. :) So it works more than two ways - so to speak.

I'm used to saying mother and father, instead of mom and dad. Reason probably being because of the relationship I had with both. (Do I detect a sense of dysfuction? Yes, you do.) At least there were my grandparents, to take over. I never knew who my parents were (figuratively, not literally. I know that said mother and father are my biological parents.) But I will take your example, and say SAHD.

You're right. Parents are not paid to parent. And wives are no paid to be spouses.

I grew up referring to my paternal grandparents as "Grandmother" and "Grandfather". What a mouthful!

well yeah....
or they could be gay... like me :-) I don't have a good man but I have the BEST woman around!
"If gay Americans are not allowed to get married and have all the benefits that American citizens are entitled to by the Bill of Rights, they should get one hell of a tax break. That is my opinion,"

Ease or difficulty are subjective.

It's hard, sometimes. You can't define or describe through words. They fail us. I'm a little confused, but I think I somewhat understand what you are trying to say.
