Not the OP, but it is very difficult to get b/a care where I live. Daycare is easier because you can go beyond the school's boundaries. Within our school's boundary there is only one b/a program. It is at the school, it is very good, it has a 2 year waiting list there are about 80-90 slots. Our school has 525ish students There is one program that will come and pickup children from the school- I know three families that used it for either daycare or b/a care all three got out very quickly as it was substandard despite being NYEAC certified (or whatever the initials are) Everyone else uses nannies/au pairs or babysitters or family.
don't knock aftercare -- the single greatest invention in the history of parentin g-- at Liza's afterschool program they have to FINISH THEIR HOMEWORK before they can play -- that means every single day she comes home with all her home work done.
Based on the info you have provided, if I was in your situation here is what I think I would do.
I would stay home for a year, living on DH's salary and the savings (all while trying to minimize unnecessary expenses so you use as little of the savings as possible).
Sure! Building your downline means looking for people to recruit into your business venture. It's a very tricky and touchy subject on iVillage because a LOT of people come (especially to this board) and either directly or indirectly try to bring people to their business, and that's not allowed.
For instance, you're allowed to say "Have you thought about working at home?". What you're not allowed to say is "Have you thought about working from home? I do. Let me tell you about my business and we can see if maybe you're interested." Do you see the difference? In the second one, you stand to profit. Therefore it's considered illegal advertising. If you do it in more than one post on iVillage, it's also considered spam. So you have to be careful because it's a violation of the terms of service and can result in your membership being revoked.

Hi Kimbra,
Please be advised that this is not the appropriate forum to build your downline.
Thanks.
