Take your LEAST preferred work status and tell us something that would make that work status more bearable for you if you had to do it for a while.

Examples:

SAHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a SAHM if we had plenty of money for me to take the kids to places like the zoo, museums, Gymboree, etc instead of having to rely on only free things.

or

WOHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a WOHM if my employers had on-site daycare so that I could be closer to my kids during the day.

or

WAHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a WAHM if my kids were old enough to entertain themselves while I got work done instead of having to wait until they take a nap, which is almost never at the same time as each other.

WAHM--It would be more bearable if I had a stand-alone office building in my yard so that I wouldn't ever have to look at all the things that need doing in my house, and to help me separate the different areas of my life more effectively.

But I doubt even this would make me want to be a FT WAHM!

If you didn't have kids, you couldn't be a WAHM or a WOHM, because you wouldn't have the "M" part. Unless you are going to argue you can be a mother without having children. I guess if you can be a SAHM with a job, you can be a WOHM without kids.....

LOL, kind of like how customer service would be a great job without the customers!

by far,WOH is more bearable when you're not a parent.

This always makes me curious, if sah works better for the family, then why specifically choose to work outside the home?

I guess that would be true for those who allow woh to shape and mold their parenting....

Maybe to you. I haven't found WOH any less bearable since I became a parent.

I suppose for some people, SAH would be more bearable if you didn't have kids, too.
