Take your LEAST preferred work status and tell us something that would make that work status more bearable for you if you had to do it for a while.

Examples:

SAHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a SAHM if we had plenty of money for me to take the kids to places like the zoo, museums, Gymboree, etc instead of having to rely on only free things.

or

WOHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a WOHM if my employers had on-site daycare so that I could be closer to my kids during the day.

or

WAHM - it would be more bearable for me to be a WAHM if my kids were old enough to entertain themselves while I got work done instead of having to wait until they take a nap, which is almost never at the same time as each other.

I am finding it much easier as an empty nester than it was when my kids were younger. Just the fact that I do not have to deal with anyone's schedule but my own makes life easier in general.

WOHM would be more bearable if I made enough money for DH to be a SAHD. We prefer me to be the SAHP, but if I couldn't, I'd be satisfied with him doing it.

WAHM actually doesn't sound bad at all if I'm doing something I like. I consider myself a SAHM, but periodically (around 5 or 6 jobs in the last two years) bake a cake or fix a computer for pay. Eventually, I'd love to expand on the cake baking, but not until DD is a little older and can either help out or amuse herself. Right now (I bake all the time just for fun) she helps mix dry ingredients and runs periodic "quality checks" on the tastier goods.

SAHM. This would be almost bearable if I had a cleaning lady, preferably more than once a week, and lots of family nearby to take the kid, especially in the evenings or else a live-in sitter. It would also require that we lived in a city with access to things, not in a &%$@ suburb. Thankfully though, this is completely hypothetical at this point, since dd is 17 :).

I would only WAHM if I had daycare for the kid and it would be daycare somewhere else, not a sitter in the house with me.

Actually I found working a much greater pleasure and also having a much greater point to it, AFTER having a kid.

LOL, we are not there yet, but the house is definitely much simpler to run when dd is not here.

WOH wouldn't be quite as bad if I could work from home OR I lived closer to work. But moving closer to work means moving further from my son and I don't even like that he's going to be moving 20 minutes further away sometime next year. (yes, I'm spoiled; I admit it and embrace it).

And the downside of working from home is that they might finally see how light my workload typically is :)

WOHFT would be more bearable to me if I did not have as many kids as I do.

This was a hard one. Had to do a lot of thinking.

My least favorite status would be WAH. It would be bearable if I were paid an outrageous amount of money for the hours I put in.

Now you are talking, that would probably do it for me too - WAH or SAH- show me the money and I will find a way to do it with a smile. :)
