I don't believe that children that have parents that work outside of the house are at a disadvantage... I also don't believe that children that have a parent that stays at home somehow benifit.

I couldn't agree more. We all are just doing whatever it takes to make it thru in this world. We do what we think is best for our lives. There is not just one right way to "raise" your children.

I am a stay at home Mom and people oh you are so lucky for this and that or that I am not so lucky because of this or that. I really don't think about it. I just do what I feel is right, what I want to do, and what works for everyone in our little family. Just over here living our lives as peaceful as possible. Trying not to get into too much trouble-ha.

<you feel is best for them...>>

How is daycare in and of itself "best" for children?

I can understand how dual-incomes are best for the family's bottom line, paying bills, affording a home, affording a car, etc.

But how is daycare best for children?

Just wanted to say that after getting only 2 hours of sleep last night, I would welcome nighttime daycare right now, LOL.

Logically, that makes sense but I had the opposite experience.

Same way exercise is good for you but you don't do it 24 x 7.

The current economic situation is a huge factor in why I am seeking work now. Also, age is a consideration. I think people should try to make as much money as they can, while they are YOUNG. Age discrimination is real, and its not going away any time soon.

IME, that has more to do with the individual child's personality than a factor of dc vs home. Erica could not tollerate dc. I wuit working and became a sahm, later a wahm because of it. Dylan on the other hand, thrived in dc. On the first day of Kindergarten, entered the classroom and never looked back.
