I don't believe that children that have parents that work outside of the house are at a disadvantage... I also don't believe that children that have a parent that stays at home somehow benifit.

<<When you say a 2 bite rule for new foods doesn't make it a control issue, are you talking about in your family or for all kids?>>

I have clearly stated, many times in this thread

I agree, my children just weren't born knowing how to make those good decisions on their own and even at the ages of 11 and 13....it's still a work in progress, so sometimes I step in and make those decisions for them or guide them to make those decisions for themselves and sometimes they use me as a control parent when they don't want to make those decisions in front of their peers.

Well as I have said before, family/house rules are about cooperation and respect and that ours rules have a point to them...it's never been about making a rule to have control over my children, never ever been said.

I continue to be at a loss here in these questions of yours about my house/family rules....where have I ever stated that my house/family rules should be applied to anyone outside of my family/house, let alone to

Why would you think that the two bite rule for new foods is a focus of the family meal?

<<Yes, that was part of my reasoning actually. It is more important, for me, that the kid understand that meal time is pleasant, that it is communal etc, than making sure she tries every food on the table or eats a certain amount or whatever.>>

But forcing them to the table is okay and pleasant?
