Just what is a SAHM?

I was taking a class recently from a well known designer--she is on the design team for a couple of companies, she teaches classes, writes articles, and sells her own creations from time to time online.
She started her introduction by saying "I'm a stay at home mom who also....." and then went on to describe what she does professionally.

ROFLOL!!!!
Okay...so when your children start school, will you call yourself a full time mom or a part time mom?

How can you do that?

<it's sad really. she's in catholic school, right. she sees moms who are "real moms" in the sense of the definition. then she has you who is so far outside the norm of a mom that her friends have, she feels left out in a way. most of the time, children just want their parents to be "normal parents". >

I've already admitted to others on here that the word "professional" may be inaccurate when describing a SAHM. You're examples were perfect by the way. : )
Anyway, what is wrong with a SAHM considering herself to be a full time mom? Isn't that what they do...stay home with the children during the work day, while others go to work and leave their children in the care of others.
