Just what is a SAHM?

I was taking a class recently from a well known designer--she is on the design team for a couple of companies, she teaches classes, writes articles, and sells her own creations from time to time online.

She started her introduction by saying "I'm a stay at home mom who also....." and then went on to describe what she does professionally.

Like I posted to Felicia, I've encountered a fair number of parents who consider "SAHP" to be a job like any other 9-5 job. He or she would say "I'm a SAHM and teach a class in the evenings" like I would say "I'm a librarian and work at a bookstore a couple nights a week."

While some parents, especially moms, might say something like this because they want to avoid critcism, I don't think that that's always the case.

I'm not trying to be obnoxious...I'm genuinely curious as to why a SAHM would have a full time nanny, unless of course she had quints or something. : )

Sounds good to me..I'm personally getting kind of sick of talking about this. : ) I never said anyone was a part time mom, and I'm sorry if that's how it seemed to come across. I was just defending my right to call myself a full time mom...honestly not trying to sound superior in any way.

Oh give me a break....so I exaggerated with the word torture. Have you never exaggerated before? You seriously need to find something else to discuss rather than nit pick one silly
