I was taking a class recently from a well known designer--she is on the design team for a couple of companies, she teaches classes, writes articles, and sells her own creations from time to time online.

She started her introduction by saying "I'm a stay at home mom who also....." and then went on to describe what she does professionally.

I say this out of kindness...get over it! It will be good for you, your baby, and your marriage to put some space in there. I understand how you feel, with my first I actually made my folks bring my baby along in their motor home while my husband and 6 other couples spent a week on a houseboat. I would speedboat in every day to see her. But I got over it, and four kids later I can honestly say she has no memory of it;) Our kids do fine without us, and getting some alone time is so important to nurturing your marriage. That will be more important to your kid in the future than spending 10 hours without mommy.

The more children I had, the less uber mother I became.

Angela thought that homeschooling was "normal" and Dylan thinks having parents that are old enough to be grandparents are "normal". To a child, "normal" is their family. "Cool", however, always refers to other children's parents.

In our family, your "momtype duties" were divided amoung 2 teens and 3 adults so does that mean that I was only 1/5 of a mom?

<<I hated leaving him, especially at that age, because I have a very strong motherly instinct I guess.>>

you can call it that, but I would bet that most of us have a "very strong motherly instinct" yet are still able to leave our children with others.
