How did your household income/potential income influence the number of children in your family? Did you and dh stop at a certain number of kids because you wanted to be able to provide certain things for each child?

I never said you have to believe me. You should have met tinderbox and egd3blessed when they were here, they used report posts CONSTANTLY. I'd rather the posts stuck around, even when offensive. Then there's no deniability.

re-read the post Myshka. I took a mat leave for almost a full year of the 4 years that i was in that position...and as for the "upward trajectory" for the 5 years prior....starting as a young single mom in the midst of a divorce and being saddled with half the debt my financially disasterous ex left me with....and then navigating through buying my first home(as a single woman on a small income)...buying my first vehicle etc. etc.(there were many other factors)...there were NO extra funds for dropping on a student loan.

I recall my budget leaving my $20.00 after paying rent, utilities, groceries and other necessities.

Not everyone leads the charmed life.

What does it matter how long I took to pay it off anyways?

My opinion is that my kids will be "saddling" THEMSELVES with debt and I may or may not help them with that. No silver spoons in my drawer. I think it is fine if you gift that to your children and they are fortunate to be handed that gift. We look at what paying for our children's education does for them differently. As I said...I MAY do the same...but even if I had the money I would have to know they appreciate it. I may even hold it aside...have them go the loan route and dependant on their dedication/completion..decide if I were going to contribute. I haven't fully decided yet.

Oh, I've reported a post or two in my lifetime. Only when they go beyond rudeness into vulgarity, or when unkindness becomes downright cruelty, though.

So, you opted out of poor public schools and chose instead the richer class of private schooling?
