How did your household income/potential income influence the number of children in your family? Did you and dh stop at a certain number of kids because you wanted to be able to provide certain things for each child?

you are really going to try to compare utilities to dayare or extra cirriculars? that is just silly. but i could pay my mortgage in two monthly payments instead of one if that had been the way we chose. monthly is hardly the only way to pay for things. my dd is in brownies and they pay dues by the meeting.

plus i know that many daycares have cash flow considerations so even though the accounting might be tougher it is more helpful to them to have money coming in constantly be it on a daily or weekly basis from their customers.

It's a cash management thing sometimes.

<<I have absolutely no clue. I know there is a discount for after 1 class. I don't know of any classes that are that long at that studio though. >>

Then how can you argue that it doesn't cost that much per week if you haven't compared apples to apples?

but some places offer the differing payment schedules as a service to their customers - like our daycare does.

That's what we did at one time, to reduce the principal faster and pay less interest.

Has she started on the competitive side?

i live in a town of 1700 people that is at minimum an hour away from a major city - we dont really have youth symphony. my dd plays in the band that is available to her and does just fine without private lessons outside of school. but then she also has no interest in pursuing music after high school so i think she is doing fine for what her interest is.

Ah huh....I didn't think you could prove my point wrong when you compare apples to apples.

Thank you.
