How did your household income/potential income influence the number of children in your family? Did you and dh stop at a certain number of kids because you wanted to be able to provide certain things for each child?

It really is a great school I'm very pleased with it. She hasn't auditioned for the company and I'm not pushing it -- she's a good dancer but not at that level and she's SO sensitive adn good natured I sort of hate for her tos tart seeing dance which she loves in a competitive way. someday maybe but it's years off I have a feeling!

The price has nothing to do with it! It's the fact that you stated you had to buy a uniform for "each girl".

"My original activity statement was about recreational activities for young kids. Not ones who are planning to go to a "fame" dance school."

Exactly. I think the situation she mentioned is so far out of the norm.

I'm not comparing anything. I never stated my children attended the Joffrey School of Ballet or anything comparable in price.

That sounds about right, then, for your daughter's level of interest. I have a son who is going into sixth grade who plays in a audition-only community orchestra and who also played in the 7th grade honors orchestra at school last year. He will be eligible for youth symphony when he is 14 -- three years from now, and unless he crashes and burns, I expect that is where he will be.

"It is surprising how someone who has never had any experience with a dance studio knows exactly how many times people go, how much they cost and can compare to one dance studio that is in NYC (the most expensive place to go)."

Too true.

No, that's not what I am talking about. You have hearsay information and then compared that hearsay information to a renowned NYC ballet school!

Wow. how did you get there from pumpkins posts? I in no way have ever read anything into her posts about her children's activities that would lead me to believe she's bussing them away from a more urban setting.
