How did your household income/potential income influence the number of children in your family? Did you and dh stop at a certain number of kids because you wanted to be able to provide certain things for each child?

You made a six figure salary for years and still didn't pay off your student loans?"

Yes how *does* that work? Particularly if she went to school in CDA (not sure if she did) as its less expensive as a general rule. Regardless, I don't know *anyone* who didnt pay off their college debt in their 20's who made a good living!

Some of us stay WOH FT and living in or near the city to have the ability to help our children as much as we choose with the costs of their college educations - that's a big reason why women with preschoolers WOH rather than SAH around here."

You bet. If we didnt have the kids educations fully funded, neither DH or I would be SAH at all. Education is a huge priority for our family and has been for a few generations on his side, and multiple generations on mine.

<< If I were currently wealthy and could take "x" amount of dollars and put it aside for my children's education I would>>

One doesn't have to be 'wealthy' to put "x" amount of dollars aside each month.

Or that private schools might value racial diversity to the extent that they might heavily recruit and then subsidize the educations of minority students?

Who came up with this theory? I can't find any references to this being a publicized (authentic or not) theory ... Would you care to provide a link to this supposed theory?

When I was dancing in juniorhigh and highschool (before I got my liscence) my parents used to drive me nearly an hour to my dance classes b/c the school that was the best one for me was that far north of where we lived. My poor dad drank an awful lot of dunkin donuts coffee late at night and battled a lot of snow storms for all those years but it was one of the best experiences i ever had and I blossomed as a performer as a result of it, I think if Liza was in a similar situation I'd do the same thing. I'm fortunate now her dance and acting schools are minutes away but i recognize it may not always be so.
