Can we please voluntarily end this thread from grlimilakinskeeper, or whatever her screen name is...it's getting too personal, and not very productive.

Oh children are egocentric all right. They are also selfish. As you have been unable to refute the bunk, I assume you are in agreement with it.

Oh, kids assume everything is about them alright. But egocentricity has nothing to do with willingness or tendancy to assume blame or responsiblity.

I quote my sister

"SHUT UP!!!! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO FIGHT!!!! YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE!!!!!!!"

That was her response to quarrelling parents. You do realize, that is the natural kid response.

You are mistaken. . .CLW didn't notice that her child was having difficulty in math. . .she didn't like the math curriculum so she took her child to tutoring to PREVENT possible difficulty in math later on because of an environmental change (the change in the curriculum).

You didn't know that children frequently blame themselves for their parent's divorce? It's a very common response, even if you insist it isn't.

Edited to add: since grimalskin's dd's are going to be made the centerpiece of divorce proceedings, it is particularly likely they will blame themselves. This divorce is going to be made literally about them (via second hand smoke) so...how could they NOT blame themselves?

The divorce isn't going to be made all about them.

The custody arrangements are going to be made all about them. Can you imagine another way to make custody arrangements?

It is well known that most school aged children are pretty ego centric. Since they think that they are the center of the world they assume that they cause everything in their world. It is a pretty normal developmental stage.

If you read up on it, children tend to feel responsible for their parents divorce/marital problems VERY often. Its a fact. That is why most books and such dealing with the issue tell parents to make sure to clarify to children that the divorce has nothing to do with THEM. Ask any specialist and they will tell you the EXACT same thing.

Educate yourself.

I'd say Virgo is just a *tad* more knowledgable than you when it comes to the psyche of children and their development. She has the education and experience behind her-while you have, what? An ongoing commentary that doesnt make a whole lot of sense? Bunk is bunk. Nothing to refute when its pure nonsense.
