Thanks! I read your post about the lack of full-time college positions and said, "I hear ya, sister!" This position was a loooong time coming--sent out many CVs over the years. Arer you teaching on an annual contract, or on a class-by-class basis?

We have a family thing (or two), but I never had any interest in either of them.

I've been very selective about my volunteer work.

It's a class by class basis. And since I can't teach more than 5 classes per school year (and may or may not be offered summer classes), it means that my paycheck varies widely from semester to semester. I love what I do - I just want to be able to do it MORE! I have student loans to pay off and a child to feed, you know? LOL

What type of work do you currently do? I'm an academic librarian.

How many hours a week do you spend *working*? 37.5 is full time, and what I aim to work each week.

If you sah, what type of work did you do prior to sahing? N/A

Do you have a degree in your field, or other? I have a BA in history and German and an MS in library and information science. In order to reach the top rank here, I need a second graduate degree, which I will probably start pursuing when I'm done having kids and they're in full time school. Probably education or computer science . . .

How many years have you been in this profession? If you include working in a library as a student and paraprofessional work, about 5 years or so.

Do you consider the work you do a career? Yes.

Is your job very social, or somewhat isolated? Both. A lot of stuff is done by committee. The guys I work with at my new job can be very talkative and fun. I do have some work I have to do mostly by myself.

If you're a sahm, what types of things do you do for socialization (outside of the kids)? I'm not a SAHM, but my main socialization outside of work and kids is family (MIL and mom, esp. or movies with DH). And I try to go to the local Knit Night at a cafe a few times a month. Lots of fun women and interesting conversations there.

Anything you want to add concerning your work, profession, or career? Hmm. I don't think so.
