I am reading stuff about them right now.
They are quiverfull.
I can't believe I have never heard of them until just now.
<Besides the financial aspects, I want to know how they maintain sanity. When I try to imagine 18 people in one house, I envision chaos. Noise, confusion, and chaos.>
I feel as though they lie.
I agree about the cameras. Even if the producers and camera-people are supposed to be observers only, there is still a value to having another pair of eyes. I'd be happy just to be able to run to the bathroom while the kids are playing, knowing that someone can see if the kids pry the safety cover off the outlet and stick their finger in it, or decide to pull all the stereo wires and TV and DVD wires out and rearrange them (both of which have been done in my house in the amount of time it takes to go upstairs and gather a load of laundry).
And there is no way they live that life on a single middle-class salary. Have you seen Jon & Kate's Sam's Club tally? It was over $1,000/week. $52,000+ for Sam's Club alone. Add in mortgage, taxes, utilities, clothing, miscellaneous...I have no idea how they could do it on just one typical income.
You mentioned my least favorite reality tv star of all time.
Kate Gosselin is absolutely the devil.
Yes. We. Did.
