Very interesting. Particularly the difference in the middle to upper income kids vs low income.

"I personally feel children need the nurture of their parents and the home," she said. "Those early years, that's when they are bonding to their family. That nurturing, only the family can give that."

I tend to agree.

Do you have Santa Clause at your house? Like it or not, Santa Clause is inexorably intertwined with Christmas. Practicing the tradition of Santa Clause is secular, but I don't know anyone who does it without calling the holiday "Christmas".

Accept a truce? WTF? I didn't know it was a war! It's just a silly debate that has gone on too long only because there's still some humor in it somehow. I don't much care about winning/losing either, as long as claims are well supported.

Of course you're free to believe what you want about meanings of words or the nature of debate. But please don't insult others when they do the same.

BTW, linguists agree there is no such thing as objectively true word meanings. Word meanings are agreed upon by those who share a given language. They're conventions, and they change over time. That is why you can't expect support when you try to use your idiosyncratic definitions in debate. Especially when you discount others' POV.

Then why do you keep telling people that they are incorrect?

Does that go for the rest of the board, too, or is it just me you're tired of trying to make your argument fly with?

"Is there some reason why free time must include playing with friends? If so, why?"

Because if you never or quite rarely play with friends in your free time, you are probably not developing normally, socially.
