Very interesting. Particularly the difference in the middle to upper income kids vs low income.

"I personally feel children need the nurture of their parents and the home," she said. "Those early years, that's when they are bonding to their family. That nurturing, only the family can give that."

I tend to agree.

There is a big difference between Houston and south Texas. In San Antonio, Cinco de Mayo is a city-wide holiday with a parade, week-long festivities, etc.

Yeah, some people seem to bring out the best in me. Sigh. But thanks.

Thank you, ma'am! Their full names are Natalie Rose and Rebecca Louise. They both had completely different names at birth but we changed them. I'm not that crazy about Louise, but it was her birth mother's grandmother's name, and she asked us to keep it. When someone's donating their newborn and crying, it's hard to say no!

I'm not disagreeing that we don't spend enough on education (or that the money spent is not spent wisely). But the amount of money that is spent on education in many areas is not enough to provide the extra resources necessary for both the "gifted" and "special ed" population. In our current system, if the choice has to be made, I'd spend the money on the "special needs" population. If you were on the city council and your schools only had enough money for one group, would you really say that the gifted children should be given priority over the MR kids? the autistic kids? (you'd probably say that the school system needs an overhall, but what about now? the kids at the school this year?)

Mathematics when used in accounting is not objectively true and often quite confusing to those who attempt to apply basic math

I'm still confused...was it a subjective or objective in which you are designated one?

I thought homeschooling was subjective, therefore how could you be incorrect?

If one had to make the choice, wouldn't one put the money towards the largest group they could help?
