Very interesting. Particularly the difference in the middle to upper income kids vs low income.

"I personally feel children need the nurture of their parents and the home," she said. "Those early years, that's when they are bonding to their family. That nurturing, only the family can give that."

I tend to agree.

You seem so confused that I don't even know where to start. It's o.k. You don't need to understand.

Um, then why did you state that you feel that when you have to pay someone to provide those things for your child,

Do I get some of my after car and possible negative effects erased because I lead cubscouts twice a month and 6 out of the 7 boys in my den have a sahp, who don't attend the 1.5 hour meeting?

i think the conveniences of "modern realities" though come from the explosion of more and more dual wohps.....take f/t kindergarten. it's mandatory just about every where here. i could take it or leave it myself (because i sah) and i really believe this is motivated mostly because of dual working couples more than it is some *need* for the child at the tender age of 5.

By definition? No. But my dd does just about the same things in aftercare as she does in Girl Scouts. Crafts. Games. Plays with her friends. Shoot, a couple of weeks ago, she and 2-3 other girls, wrote, produced and presented a play about horses. Very similar to what she might do in Girl Scouts.

Ah, I guess we all have different levels of what satisfactory is and is not.
