Very interesting. Particularly the difference in the middle to upper income kids vs low income.

"I personally feel children need the nurture of their parents and the home," she said. "Those early years, that's when they are bonding to their family. That nurturing, only the family can give that."

I tend to agree.

if what you are doing with your daughter is considered homeschooling than yes, home daycare would fall into that same catagory. they do child led educational activities, they keep records and they are educated. can you explain the difference

From post 809:

YOU: I wouldn't claim you're lying, but the claim has been made. Am I lying when I claim to homeschool?

ME: That would depend on if you are actually homeschooling.

Bottom line - If you make a claim and do exactly what you claim to be doing, there is *no* discrepancy (aka no lying).

However, if you make a claim and know good and well that you are not doing what you claim to be doing, there *is* a discrepancy (aka lying).

There may be criteria, but not universal criteria, evidently.

but you see, that is not the question. the question is if your child is enrolled in a school (public or private) and when they get home from school you teach them additional things is that homeschooling? the problem is that hk thinks that only she is homeschooling but the rest of us who are doing the exact same things she is are not? perhaps you can explain the difference since you appear to agree with her - because she either cant or wont.

but no one has done that.....everyone of us does with our children EXACTLY what we have claimed to do - the only question is what label is put on it. this could so easily be resolved if you would just answer the one simple question "what is it that you are doing that you dont think the rest of us are doing, that causes what you do to be considered homeschooling but not what we are doing?" other than giving it a label, because honestly, that is the only difference i see.

Exactly, your criteria is just different than momofhk's.
