When I read some of the post on this board isn't the whole SAH vs. WOH all about making the best of the situation at hand?

I realized today that my life is good!!

Ours is in a 529...so I guess we could just pull it out & pay the penalty if he doesn't use it.

Ours goes pretty much like that except we've said that we'll hold onto the money until the kids are 25. And if they don't use the money, I am not necessarily going to funnel it into scholarships or anything. We'll do a mixture of using it up for fun and charity, I am sure. Or maybe put it in trust for future grandchildren. Hoping it doesn't come to that!

Yeah, once they are adults, the negotiation in my house goes like this:

My kids are going to a college prep school that has had a 100% four year college matriculation rate among its graduates, they have grown up with their lives pretty much enmeshed in college/university life, and their father and I have three PhDs between us. Still, somebody seems to have slipped them the information that college is not mandatory. And I don't know what there is to "negotiate" with once they are adults.

Pretty much my son will grow up knowing college is non-negotiable.

It is beautiful. I came out to visit a friend in '91 and never left (went back to NYC long enough to give notice at work and pick up my cat!).

Let me know when you can make it out here!
